Hello and Happy New Year!
It seems like it's been ages since we've had to think about our second grade classroom, but here we go!
1. No School on Monday, January 19th.
2. Our focus for International Night is Sweden! We'll be studying Sweden along with Mrs. Halabu's class. International Night is February 5th.
3. Scholastic orders are due to me this Friday (January 16th).
4. For the remainder of the year Mrs. Halabu will be teaching social studies and I'll be teaching science (just to switch things up a bit!). This month we'll be working on mapping skills and sound!
5. Happy Belated Birthday to Kendan, Qistina, and Maia who all celebrated their birthdays over our break! We sang to them early last week and Maia taught us a few stretching poses for her birthday!
6. Special Kid is Francisco!
Some exciting news!
Second grade is working with a U of M student to communicate with students in Uganda! We had a representative from a Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda come in and talk to us about life in Uganda. Some of her colleagues started a school there. We'll be sending the students information and pictures to help them learn English! Our class has already sent information on the four seasons and city animals. We're waiting to hear back from students in Uganda.

Thank you to all the families who came out to help pass out our cards at the Glacier Hills Senior Living Community. It was such a wonderful experience and the smiles/tears/words of gratitude we received really made it a rewarding experience. Thank you again, to Delena Harrison for planning the outing!
I only have a few pictures from the group that I was walking around with. As always, if you have any other pictures that you're willing to share please email them to me!
