We've been reading and writing poetry the last few weeks. We've been doing it so much that I'm shocked I haven't shown it to you on the website yet!
We made poetry journals and started by reading and collecting poems that we liked. So far we've talked about poetry structure (lines and spaces) and rhythm, making connections to poetry, personification, and strong feelings in poetry. The next two weeks we'll be using poetry to learn about similes and metaphors.

Here are two poems written, written by Ashley and Naomi. They both wrote these the day we learned about personification (when you give an object human like qualities). Keep an eye out for more poetry in the student blog!
Lunch by Ashley paterson
It’s like my lunch yells at me,
Because they want to live,
But I hear my stomach growl at me,
And I want to live!
SCISSORS by Naomi
My scissors munch and crunch threw the paper,
Eating out shapes,
They eat paper for breakfast, lunch, and diner,
They eat all day long,
At the end of the day they are full.

We also received our caterpillars for our life cycle unit! We observed them on Friday and were shocked to see how much they had changed by Monday!
