Math Games
We've been chugging along in math and working hard. Our current unit is geometry focused. Students have been learning about two and three-dimensional shapes. They've also been learning how to configure shapes together to make a new shape.
In this game, both partners grabbed 4-6 of the same shape blocks. One partner secretly made their own configuration. Then, they had to describe how to make the same configuration to their partner. At the end, they revealed their shapes to see if they had a match! This was a great game because it encouraged students to use their math vocabulary. Students said things such as, "Take your triangle and put the vertices up" or, "Line the side of the trapezoid up with the side of the hexagon".

Here is a simple game we played. Time Match. Students had to match the digital time to the analogue clock. An oldie but a goodie!
We call this game "Piggy Bank". Students take turns spinning and collecting coins. If they land on the pig, they have to put everything back into the bank! They count their collection of coins. The person with the greater value of coins at the end is the winner!
