Welcome back!
1. This year our class (along with Mrs. Halabu's class) will be studying Japan for International Night (April 21st)!
2. Our class is in need of parent volunteers on Monday, April 18th from 2:00-4:00 pm. We'll be learning about Japanese culture through stations, which will be set up in the cafeteria. A big thanks to Yuka (Sowa's mother) for helping with this event! Students will learn about calligraphy, Japanese toys/games, sushi, and they'll get to try on traditional Japanese clothing! We need parents to help students at each station. Please let me know via email if you're available!
3. Our field trip to UMMA (Museum of Modern Art) is April 29th at 1:30pm. We'll be walking. We're in need of several chaperones to help. Please email me if you're able to chaperone.
4. Mark you calendars! Our musical is scheduled for Thursday, May 19th!

Wonder Bubbles
The week before break, we finished one of my favorite writing activities. Our research project (or "Wonder Bubbles", as we called them) started with a question! Students thought of a topic and asked a question, something they wondered, about that topic. Then, they researched their answer using books, the computer lab, and the iPads. Once they located their answer, they chose 2-3 other facts about their topic. They drew a realistic diagram of their animal and wrote their facts down. These are on display on the hallway, right outside our classroom, for the remainder of the week. Please stop by and take a look, they will take your breath away (cue music...)! The students did a wonderful job!
