1. We're in need of glue sticks for the students to use. If you're able to donate some, we'd greatly appreciate it!
2. We're looking for paper towel rolls (just the cardboard roll) for our number scrolls in math. Please send in ANY you have! We need one for each student, so anything you can send helps!
3. Special Kid is Alexander!
Have you been wondering what we're doing at school? Let me take you through some of the skills we've been working on.

Have you been wondering what we're doing at school? Let me take you through some of the skills we've been working on.
- Writing-we started a "How-To" unit where students are writing instructions on how to do something. This is practice in sequencing directions and also writing informational text.
- Phonics-we've been practicing two concepts (beginning consonant clusters and short e/long e vowel spelling patterns). Last week, students worked on cr, cl, fr, and fl beginning clusters as well as /ee/ and /ea/ long vowel patterns.
- Reading-students continue to practice reading at their level in reading groups!
- Science-we've just learned about states of matter (solid, liquid, gas). We learned that water can change states, and that temperature causes this to happen. We compared these states to the water we see out in the world (rain, ice/snow, steam).
- Math
- the meaning of the equal sign (= means "the same as"), and balancing equations (10+3 = ? +1)
- comparing two numbers and comparing two equations (2+7 < 9+2)
- adding three numbers
- making two digit numbers and recognizing them as tens and ones (46 is really 40 + 6, we make it with 4 "tens" and 6 "ones")
