Don't forget that International Night is the evening of February 5th! IF you plan on participating in the Parade of Nations then you'll need to sign up before hand.

1. No school this Monday! Please take a moment on this day to have a conversation about our role in equality in America. We spent some time discussing equality in our class today, but my impact won't be as meaningful as a conversation with you! Sometimes we forget to talk about these things, or we give a quick response to questions. However, students are starting to ask more complex questions about the topic and this is a great time to start (or continue) the conversation!
Ask your child about these three pictures:

2. Any library book that was checked out of the Ann Arbor District Library should be returned, if you haven't already done so. Thank you to Harmony for the reminder!
3. Please be sure to send in 3 medium size (fits in the palm of you hand) rocks from the gravel pit/a rock collection. We'll be using these when we learn about Swedish Tales with Mia Risberg (Ela's mom) next Friday.
4. Special Kid is Harmony!
Last week we started our sound unit in science! Here's a peek at what we've done so far!
We started by sharing what we think we know about sound. Then we learned two vocabulary words.
Sound-Anything that can be heard by humans or other animals
Source- The thing that makes a sound
We did several "sound hunts" where we had to identify the sound, the source, and describe it!
Yesterday, we learned a new vocabulary word.
Vibration- A regular back and forth motion
We learned that sound is made by vibrations. We did four different "Vibration Stations" to see if we could feel, hear, and see the vibrations. We also wanted to find out what happened we we started or stopped the vibration.
When we finished, we went back to our science journal to record our thinking from the day!
