Over the break, I thought I'd lost all the pictures on my phone. Don't ask me how, but I've magically gotten them back and I'd like to share them! I have a hodgepodge of pictures to show you from all sorts of things we did in class.
Writing
Before break, we learned how to compare and contrast two people. First, we practice describing a person using their physical characteristics and their character traits. Then, we put our comparisons into sentences. Last, we made these covers where our person is split between the two people we chose to compare! I love how unique they all turned out!

Holiday Party
We had a great time! Thank you for contributing to such a fun event! Thank you especially Krista Schwartz for organizing the activities!
Math
We've been practicing adding ten more/ten less in math. Here's a game we played where we had to tell 10 more or 10 less than a number. This is a VERY important skill for first graders. They apply this skill when they add two and three digit numbers (which comes full force in second grade), when they count coins, and so much more! This is a great game you can play at home to practice this skill! For an added challenge, help students think of 10 more/less of a three-digit number.

We've also been working on place value in math. This means that we've been learning about the value of the tens and ones digit. We used these blocks (called "Base Ten Blocks"), to practice making numbers.
We also practiced how to make one number, two different ways. If you look above, both pictures show 51. The first shows 50+1 and the second shows 40+11.
Just for Fun!
