2. Behavior Chart. Now that we've been in first grade for a week, it's important for you to know about our class behavior chart. I'm not one to depend on changing student colors and usually I'll opt to have private conversation with a student or focus on something positive. That being said, we do have a behavior chart in case my reminders aren't helping students make a better choice.
Students all start on green.
If a student makes a bad choice, I'll give them a reminder or redirection.
If a student continues to make that bad choice, I'll give them a warning.
If student continues, they change their color to yellow. This is intended to be a clear indicator that they need to change their choice.
If the student continues, they will change their color to red. This is when I would most likely contact you.
If a student is going above and beyond and I just can't stop noticing what a wonderful student they are, they change their color to blue. This is an honor in our classroom. Stone changed his color to blue today, so if you see him make sure you congratulate him!
4. Volunteers. If you're interested in helping out at school or in our classroom, please let me know! Our library time is Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 and we'll need someone there to help check out books. I could also use some help with preparing materials for my classroom or helping during math time. I'd love to hear from you if you want to come in! My email is [email protected].
5. Book boxes are due back Monday.
6. Happy birthday last week to Ahmed and this week to Alexander!
I snapped some pictures this week when I had a chance. We were really busy getting to know one another and learning about life in first grade. Take a peek at our week!
